Bicton Park Botanical Gardens

Bicton Park, with its perfect example of an Italian Garden, is a living monument to horticultural history – but it is certainly no stuffy museum piece. Some larger gardens can feel impersonal, but what is striking about Bicton is the love and enthusiasm felt for the venue by its visitors – many of whom are members and visit regularly, all year round. And with so much to see, it’s no surprise that Bicton’s visitors feel slightly proprietorial about the gardens.

The video clips give an idea of the sheer variety of floral colour on display – one aspect of Bicton Park that makes it so popular. As a pleasure garden, and one that holds plenty of events including concerts, it is also clear that there is a relaxed, fun atmosphere here. Bicton Park is simply a beautiful place to be – whether you are horticulturally inclined or not. Check out the full version of the film to see that there’s much more to Bicton. Peaceful landscaped gardens, glasshouses filled with an array of rare plants such as cacti and hothouse orchids, and not forgetting the fantastic glass Palm House – considered one of the most beautiful garden buildings in the world.
