Docton Mill Gardens

It’s clear from the film excerpts that Docton Mill Gardens are blessed by a fabulous location. These are verdant, lush gardens, which the full version of the film reveals are greener in more ways than one. The team at Docton Mill believe in being environmentally friendly and there are no chemicals used here! Whilst the garden is a managed wilderness, as seen by the profuse planting in the clips, it certainly doesn’t lack diversity. It has more formal areas such as the Summer Garden as well as Caleb’s Field – an area with an oil painting effect created by the subtle integration of silvers, pinks, blues and mauves.

Ultimately, what the film reveals is an inspirational story of two people leaving behind the rat race, and jobs they were no longer enjoying and taking a huge risk. With no gardening experience, John and Lana Borrett bought Docton Mill and getting back to nature has had a major impact on their lifestyle. To find out how they are getting on, and watch their experiences at the Devon County Show with the creation of their first ever show garden, get the film!
