Prideaux Place

The magnificent Prideaux Place, its architecture a fusion of the Elizabethan e-shape with Strawberry Hill Gothic, looks like the perfect setting for a haunting tale or a mysterious legend. One such myth alluded to in the following video clips suggests that the continued existence of the Prideaux family rests on the survival of their deer herd. You’ll have to watch the film to find out more – fourteen generations of the Prideaux, and ancient Cornish clan, have lived at Prideaux Place, and this is a house which resounds with history.

Do the excepts give you a sense of déjà vu? Discover why, and where, you might have seen Prideaux Place before – film location scouts love it. Find out about the history of the gardens, what they were like in their Edwardian heyday, and a little about the tricky process of restoration with comments from Tom Petherick – himself instrumental in re-establishing the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Oh, and learn about Prideaux’s many ghostly inhabitants too!
